We’re more than halfway through the semester. I haven’t really had time to reflect yet—this is the first week I haven’t traveled, and we’re staying back because of midterms. As I look back on the insane 2 or so months that have elapsed, I find myself with more questions than answers. These are random, spontaneous thoughts that have popped up in my head, but have kinda stuck. Here it goes:
1. Will I regret this form of traveling? As I go to a new place every week, I haven’t had time to research anything. When I arrive at the airport, I have minimal context—maybe a quick skim of a Wikipedia page at most. I also believe it’s somewhat disrespectful to go to another country without knowing how to say hello or goodbye, and just expecting everyone to speak English to accommodate me. On the positive side, I’ve seen so many mind-boggling things that otherwise would’ve taken years to experience.
2. How the hell were the pyramids built? It makes no sense. If you assume they stacked the blocks up piece by piece, the math doesn’t add up. With the number of total blocks divided by the years it took to construct, they would have to complete an impossible number per day.
3. How should I feel about the pyramids? Yes, they are spectacular. Yes, I’m glad they’re around. But aren’t they just the manifestation of some dude’s ego? I’m going to build the tallest most costly structure in the world, so I can have a better shot at reaching the afterlife. Interesting. I wonder how the workers felt about the thousands of hours they were spending on the project. But if the Pharaohs didn’t order the construction, we would be without one less wonder in the world.
4. What is it like being Drake or Travis Scott? It must be crazy to know that whatever project you’re working on will define culture for the next couple of months, at least. Whoa.
5. When is the next time I will see my parents consistently? I must keep reminding myself that freshman year wasn’t a break—it was a permanent change. Going from living under the same roof to seeing them twice a year is very new to me. It’s difficult to change that because they live in Taiwan. That sucks.
6. Should the Lakers trade Ingram? There is a very solid lineup with Zo at the 1, Hart at the 2, Lebron 3, Kuz 4, Javale 5. If you put Ingram in there, Kuz has to play 5, and the Lakers just get cooked by bigs. Unless BI permanently switches to point, I feel like LA needs a good center for a shot a contention. Can’t trade hart or kuz—need the floor spacing. Can’t trade Zo- won’t get any value in return. Think it may be time for the slim reaper to go.
Slide in my dms if you have answers.
