[9:00am] DINGDINGDING! *alarm rings*

[9:10am] DINGDINGDINGDINGDING!! *alarm rings furiously*
"ten more minutes..."
[9:20am] DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING!!!! *alarm continues to ring*
"nope."
[9:30am] DINGDIN-
"okay, i'm up."
So you might be thinking: "What the heck was that intro??!"
Well, that's just a typical Tuesday for me here in Spain!
Hi Guys!!
I'm Maggie, currently a sophomore and studying in NYU Madrid this semester~

As my fellow abroad liaisons have previously mentioned, studying abroad (especially in Europe) is really liberating, meaning that you can easily travel to other neighboring EU countries. Which is why I, too, have seldom spent a weekend staying here in the city of Madrid. But today I'll be sticking close to home and taking you along with me throughout my day! A very real depiction of how my day here goes, NO sugar-coating,
[10:00am] - HOMEWORK
Since I don't have class until 12:30pm, I take this time to do any homework that has not been finished
[11:00am] - COOK/EAT & GET READY
"okay, it's been an hour staring at the screen and trying to proofread this three page Spanish Essay... I think i'm done."
My stomach would beg me to feed it around this time. Spanish life schedules are weird with the eating five times a day and ciestas; i'm not sure if I have yet adjusted (even though it's been a month)... So I just don't really follow a specific meal schedule, hahah.
{eating here abroad can be easy or hard, depending on how much you decide to spend your life savings on eating out. I, someone who would rather spend money traveling, usually buy groceries and cook for myself}
[11:45am] - HEAD TO SCHOOL
Commuting to campus from the residence usually takes around 30 minutes by subway (easiest/cheapest option) at NYU Madrid. However, you'd never know when the midday rush hour decides to start, so I always leave ~45 mins before class!!
[12:30am ~ 2:30am] - SPANISH CLASS
"whatever profesora Montse just said... i do NOT understand... but i should probably raise my hand and ask about it"
I really love my Spanish class here. There's only 10 people in my class. At first I thought it'd be super intimidating (and believe me, i'm someone who'd voluntarily drown in a crowd of 200 headcount lecture), but Montse (our professor) is super nice and funny and chill so I enjoy the two hour class time a lot! I've also learnt to speak up in class and engage myself a LOT more!
[3:00 ~ 4:20pm] - MARKETING CLASS
The only homework in this class is reading, which is done before each lecture, usually on the specific topic that will be discussed in that class. So it's really all up to you if you do it or not... But the professor always manages to incorporate his own life experiences into his lectures, and they're super interesting. Another class i love!
[4:30 - ...] - GO HOME
"IM. FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
[5:30 ~ 6:30] - DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
Usually I would take the subway home right after class and get home around 5pm, but today I have a doctor's appointment for my mountain biking accident this past weekend in Switzerland (it's a long story). I'm pretty badly bruised along my left side right now (including face), so i just want to make sure i don't have a concussion...
{the GeoBlue student abroad insurance lets you seek (most) medical attention for free. I just had to search up a doctor's office here in Madrid that spoke english and accepted the insurance! THAT simple.}
[7:00pm] - SPANISH TAPAS TOUR
{NYU Madrid has organized "intercambio activities", which means that the native Spanish students who live in the same student residence (Claraval) as the NYU Madrid students can all sign up to do inter-exchanging activities!}
TODAY, we are all going around Malasaña (the super "hip" neighborhood where our residence is located near) and tasting the classic Spanish "Tapas"!!! (aka. little appetizers)
[10:00pm] - TRYING TO DO HW *emphasis on the TRYING*
"low key wanna take a nap right now... but i have 34 pages of cultures & context to read..."
It's hard to not get distracted here, when you're technically all by yourself. But just cuz you're abroad doesn't mean that the work load is THAT significantly less. Because I spend my weekend traveling, I have to make sure I stay on track with work during the week so I don't lag behind later on. (well, i try :") )
[1:00am] - SLEEP
Need that beauty sleep in order to properly function, but...
Who am i kidding. probably gonna fall asleep at 3am again, after either being distracted on social media or staying up finishing the two chapters of finance reading i forgot to do earlier...
So that concludes my typical day abroad!
I enjoyed taking you guys along with me and I hope it wasn't TOO boring to read~
Midterms are coming up both in NYC and Abroad so i guess i'll sign off by wishing everyone GOOD LUCK on all the subjects! :)
