Hi everyone, my name is Dylan and I am also studying Business Politics and Economics at NYU London! Although I have been in London for the past 4 weeks, I have yet to spend a weekend here. So far I have been to Nice, Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Brussels.
Nice, France was my favorite city. The landscape and scenery was beautiful, the food was divine and people...well they are French. I also loved Barcelona. I was especially struck by the dinner and night-life cultural there. Every night people would eat until 11 PM, and afterwards stay out until dawn. Truly and exciting city.
I enjoyed Amsterdam, however, didn't quite plan the trip perfectly. We thought it would be a good idea to go to Amsterdam overnight without a place to stay to save money. The idea was that we would stay up all night and catch an early flight the next day. Sadly the weather was rainy and Amsterdam night life is not the most wholesome. Other than this, The Van Gough Museum was the most extensive collection of one artist's work I have ever seen, and Van Gough no less!
Brussels although had amazing waffles and chocolate, was very industrial outside of the tourist attractions. The tourist attractions were incredible. Much of the architecture had an interesting mix of Easter and Western influences, seeing and hearing about the EU at the EU takes studying politics to a whole new level, and the beer (legal here) was rich in flavor. However, step outside the tourist square and you are amidst a desolate city undergoing immense industrial construction.
After these past couple of weeks of traveling, I am excited to stay and explore London. Enjoy New York and I will keep you all updated! Below is a picture of one of the side streets in Nice!
